QE Park re-development Public Information Meeting
11th February, 2009
Oakville Beaver's coverage of the meeting;

Public Information Meeting Report
Federal Funding Issue
Editorial

Town staff presented three re-development options for QE Park based on provisional drawings by Shore Tilbe Irwin and Partners, Architects to local residents.  The meeting was then opened for questions and comments.

The major concerns voiced by local residents was the increase in size of the parking lot and potential loss of green space, traffic issues and possible light pollution. The Architects and landscaping experts presented design strategies to resolve these issues (see Public Information Meeting Report from the Oakville Beaver)

A handful of residents questioned the need for such considerable space allocation to arts and cultural groups.  Residents were invited to contact CommUnity Arts Space and the Oakville Arts Council for background information such as studies, space audit, user surveys etc, all of which were the basis of space planning for the new centre.

The next step will be a Council vote for the chosen design option at the February Budget Committee Meeting.  Stay informed by visiting the Town of Oakville's  QE Park redevelopment project official site: QE Park Community Centre
