Whilst our project emerged out of a special need amongst art and music community groups, other community groups often struggle to find appropriate facilities which are not currently met.
CANADIAN MUSIC COMPETITION
Canadian Music Competition strives to discover talented young singers and musicians and to assist them in developing a high level of excellence. Through a program consisting of various instrumental and vocal categories and with age-specific criteria, CMC encourages musicians to meet its exceptional standards of achievement and performance.
CMC Oakville - Mississauga Chapter holds regular concerts in the area, enabling students to have valuable experience performing before large groups. House concerts are also popular events, as they raise significant funds which are used towards Ontario CMC scholarships, as well as bringing the joy of classical music by young performers to private homes in the region.
Halton Multicultural Council (HMC)
![]()
The Halton Multicultural Council was founded in 1979 by volunteers of a number of cultural groups to provide social programs to the community. We are a not for profit community agency dedicated to enabling every individual, regardless of race or ethnic origin, to participate as full and active members of the community through fostering mutual respect and understanding of one another.
HMC is a full service newcomer agency in the Region of Halton. We assist the settlement and integration of newcomers by providing free services including settlement services, language training, housing, employment, interpretation/translation, anti-discrimination youth training and diversity training in the community.
Our services are only as strong as the relations we build with our community. Building community partnerships to build significant support for newcomers is important in reducing barriers to new immigrants. We believe that for Canada to thrive, everyone must respect the traditions and customs of the many cultural groups present in Canadian society today.
