Bad Dog Theatre Oakville
Bad Dog Oakville is a Theatre Company specializing in improv training and performance. Headed up by Gary Pearson (This Hour Has 22 Minutes/Corner Gas/MadTV), Duncan McKenzie and Amy McKenzie (Train 48/History Bites) Bad Dog Oakville will offer exciting comedy shows like Theatresports and different types of long form improvisation. Using professional teachers and performers, Bad Dog Oakville is a place for mentoring comic talent and providing an outlet for improvisers to practice their craft.
CIRCLE OF HARMONY CHORUS
The dynamic and exciting Circle of Harmony is a chorus of women dedicated to learning and performing quality four-part harmony in a caring spirit which shows their love of singing. Chartered in November 1998 in Oakville, the chorus is celebrating its 10th Anniversary as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International.Strong leadership and a dedicated membership have created an award-winning combination. In the Lake Ontario Region, the chorus won 1st Place Midsize Chorus in 2006 and 1st Place Small Chorus in 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002. In July of 2003, Circle of Harmony became International Bronze Medallists in their division: a field of over 300 small choruses worldwide. Most recently, in August 2007, Circle of Harmony was awarded the Best Female and Best Overall chorus awards at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio in competition with male and female competitors from all over the continent.
Barbara Hodge and Carol Shields are the musical co-directors of a 65-voice phenomenon. The members of Circle of Harmony are thankful for the chance to bring their voices together each week to pursue excellence. Friendships that last a lifetime, laughing and learning together, and opportunities for personal growth are rewards members of the chorus enjoy. The chorus performs at community events, shows, and corporate and private functions.
HALTON YOUTH SYMPHONY
The Halton Youth Symphony (HYS) is a registered charitable organization that offers young musicians the opportunity to develop their musicianship with orchestral experience and consists of approximately 93 musicians in two orchestras. The younger orchestra, the Halton Youth Chamber Orchestra (HYCO), includes musicians from 9 to 14 years of age playing violin, viola or cello. Our senior orchestra, the Halton Youth
Symphony Orchestra (HYSO), includes mostly high-school age musicians playing a full range of orchestral instruments. Both orchestras attend a weekend retreat early in the fall, rehearse weekly between September and May, and perform at least three public concerts yearly. Musicians also perform in smaller groups at community functions. The HYS welcome musicians from Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills and other neighbouring municipalities. INTRADA BRASS OF OAKVILLE
Intrada Brass is a unique blend of professional, semi-professional and amateur musicians, all of whom devote their time and talent for the sheer joy of making music, and who commute from many parts of southern Ontario to participate. Several members of the band are music educators. Intrada Brass was formed in 1995 to make recordings, four of which have been released and are now in worldwide circulation. They have been broadcast extensively on CBC Radio One and Two across Canada and FJRT-FM and Classical 96 FM in Toronto. They have also been aired on National Public Radio in the U.S., the BBC in the U.K., in Europe and Australia. The group performs in three subscription concerts annually in Oakville as well as other community concert events. Masterworks of Oakville Chorus and Orchestra
Masterworks of Oakville Chorus and Orchestra plays the great works of the choral/orchestral repertoire, that uplifting, triumphant, and stirring combination of instruments and voices. Masterworks is unique in that all concerts are accompanied by full orchestra. Masterworks performs two or three concerts in a season with each concert program performed twice. Each concert is performed in an Oakville Church. Masterworks has flourished over the last few years out of the enthusiasm of its members and the community, and the talent of artistic director Charles Demuynck. Works performed in the last 2 seasons include Haydn’s Creation, Faure’s Requiem, Bach’s Cantata #147, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven Mass in C and Bach Magnificant.Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club
The Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club is a non profit fiddle orchestra created to bring like minded musicians together to play music in the Celtic tradition. The focus is on Scottish, Irish, and Cape Breton tunes. Under the direction of James Franczek we can be seen playing concerts at various times of the year (concerts, festivals, senior's homes, etc.). We are open to fiddlers (violinists), guitar players, flautists, and Bodhran (Celtic drum) players who are 12 years old and up with a few years of experience on their instrument. The Oakville Chamber Orchestra has been presenting concerts in Oakville, Ontario for 24 years. Founded in 1984 as a group of amateur string players, this musical group has steadily grown in size, aspirations and quality into its current form. Our mission is to enrich the musical culture of the community by creating a passion for our live chamber music concerts, while developing local amateur musicians of all ages and promoting Canadian soloists.OAKVILLE CHILDREN’S CHOIR
The Oakville Children’s Choir has earned an excellent reputation both locally and on the international stage. Under the direction of Music Director Sarah Morrison and Associate Music Director Janet Stachow, the OCC is a comprehensive music education program for choristers ranging in age from 7 through 17. The OCC provides its choristers with the opportunity for total enrichment, not just musically, but also in their future. Choir participation involves them artistically, builds community, enhances their skills, and results in a product of great beauty. OAKVILLE CHORAL SOCIETY
The Oakville Choral Society has been at the heart of the Oakville community since 1960 and celebrates it's 50th Anniversary in 2010. It is a non-profit cultural organization whose aim is the promotion of choral singing and music appreciation in the community. David Bowser was appointed as the new Artistic Director and Conductor in 2009 after the retirement of Bev Stainton who had devoted 30 memorable years to the Society. David has a wealth of experience and has studied and conducted for ballet, opera and stage in Canada, the US and Europe. He brings tremendous passion and energy to the Society’s rehearsals and performances. This traditionally inspired ensemble has performed to audiences spanning the generations. The choir has a large repertoire of the world's best and most loved music including pieces from the masters of classical to modern day show-tunes and pops. The 80 plus member strong group possesses a true passion for singing and performing as well as maintains a strong community interaction by which they do service to their area culturally. The Society does not require new members to have an audition – just a good voice and plenty of enthusiasm.OAKVILLE SUZUKI ASSOCIATION
The Oakville Suzuki Association is a non-profit association of parents and teachers devoted to the development of high ability in young people and the enrichment of the human spirit through the teaching of music. As a local chapter of the worldwide Suzuki Association, we are committed to providing qualified instructors and opportunities for multiple levels of musical instruction and experiences based on the method developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. This method is based on the premise that musical ability can be developed in all children. Lessons are offered in cello, flute, guitar, piano, violin and viola. Summer camp is also offered in July.OAKVILLE SUZUKI FLUTE ORCHESTRA
The Oakville Suzuki Flute Orchestra is a group of talented flute students who love to perform together in performances throughout the year. In addition to the concert flute, they play the alto flute, bass flute, and piccolo. The group is under the direction of flautist and music teacher Michelle Anderson. OAKVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Today the Oakville Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1967 by Kenneth Hollier, is thriving under the inspired leadership of Roberto de Clara, conductor for the last decade. The OSO performs 11-12 times per season at the OCPA, including 8 concerts over 4 weekends in its subscription series.
The Symphony continues to offer the very successful Young Artist’s Awards program, as well as the Hollier award to stimulate the interest of young people of the community in symphonic music. A new initiative by the O.S.O. outreach committee has resulted in a series of mini-concerts introducing young children to instruments of the orchestra. Each fall these programs culminate in a “Young People’s Concert” featuring the full orchestra.
The orchestra now has over seventy volunteer musicians, plus ten professionals providing leadership and inspiration. Performances by talented young soloists as well as established guest artists are featured in each concert. Valued sponsors and loyal patrons have ensured sold-out subscription series for the past four seasons. The OSO is the only group in Oakville performing large-scale symphonic works.
OAKVILLE WIND ORCHESTRA
The aim of the Oakville Wind Orchestra is to have fun and make music, and share it with the community of Oakville! - To provide musicians with a band setting in which to develop their instrumental skills.
- To expose players of all ages to a wide repertoire from all musical areas.
- To give players experience in concert performance.
- To contribute to the musical environment of our community.
- To strive for musical excellence.
The OWO currently is a 45-50 piece group playing challenging music at an advanced level. This adult band has members ranging in age from 16 and up.
The Oakville Scottish Country Dance Group
Founded in 1956, this group follows the traditions established by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Classes are taught by qualified teachers and are offered in different levels to suit the beginner or more advanced dancer. Scottish dancing is a vigorous low impact exercise in a friendly social atmosphere and there is no requirement to be Scottish to join!Oakville Scottish Country Dance Group
THE ENTERTAINERS BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY
The Oakville Entertainers are an Oakville based chorus of approximately 40 members who meet weekly for Barbershop style singing practices. The group performs for local clubs, schools, community groups and other organizations, and hosts performances throughout the year for the general public at various Oakville locales.TEMPUS CHORAL SOCIETY
The Tempus Choral Society was re-formed in the fall of 1999 as a celebration of the Millennium. The name Tempus was derived from the Latin Tempus Fugit. From this Latin we have come to adapt this name meaning “Our Music is from All Parts of the Choral Spectrum”. Our membership is directed by Brian Turnbull the founder and director of Tempus. The choirs’ repertoire features a variety of music from Broadway to Jazz to Inspirational.
Our accompanist Jane Wamsley never ceases to amaze us with her excellent and flawless accompaniment.
Tempus Choral Society produces 3-4 major concerts a year. We also sing at numerous senior residences and local charities throughout the year.
Tempus has sung with the Hamilton Orpheus Male Chorus, The Oakville Symphony Orchestra, St. John’s United Church Chancel Choir, The Oakville Youth Choir, Sankt Annae Youth Choir of Denmark as well as the Oakville Children’s Choir to name a few.
We always look forward to many more shared concerts with other musical ensembles.
